Somatic yoga

What is somatic yoga?

Somatic Yoga is a gentle, mindful approach to movement that helps you reconnect with your body from the inside out.

Rather than focusing on how a pose looks, somatic yoga invites you to move slowly and with awareness, noticing subtle sensations in the body. Through small, controlled movements and moments of rest, the nervous system begins to relax and long-held patterns of tension can begin to release.

I’ve been studying somatic movement and have started weaving these practices into my classes. My sessions are now a nourishing blend of yin yoga and somatics — combining the deep, restful stretches of yin with slow, mindful movements that help retrain the brain–body connection.

Many of us carry stress in our bodies without even realising it — tight shoulders, a stiff back, a clenched jaw. Somatic practices gently help the body let go of these patterns, allowing movement to feel easier and more natural.

This style of practice can help to:

✨ Release chronic tension and tightness
✨ Improve mobility and posture
✨ Calm the nervous system
✨ Reduce stress and fatigue
✨ Develop a deeper awareness of your body

Classes are slow, supportive and completely beginner-friendly. There’s no pressure to push or stretch deeply — the focus is on listening to your body and moving in a way that feels safe and nourishing.

Perfect if you’re feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or simply curious about a softer, more mindful way of practising yoga. 🌿
